Introducing Cambridge Women Who Lead

Cambridge Women Who Lead is a new society, established in January 2021, dedicated to promoting female leadership. We host talks and workshops and publish articles written by, for and about student leaders and women who inspire us.

We have five events lined up for this term and will be exploring leadership across a wide range of sectors ranging from women in finance, STEM, fashion, enterprise, and academia, with a brilliant event featuring several Cambridge female Masters in store....full details will be released very soon! At the end of each event, we’ll celebrate creative talent and enjoy a performance from a student with a song or spoken word poem! If you know a female leader, whether that is your mum, aunt, sister, cousin or friend - let them know about our society and we can interview them or invite them to an event.

Cambridge Women Who Lead aims to challenge the archetypal societal perception of a strong woman as a corporate leader. While this is one form of leadership, there are so many more: running a business, organising an activism campaign, captaining a sports team, or leading a Cambridge college! All students can be leaders and whether encouraging debate at the Student Union or playing on the rugby pitch, recognising and strengthening female and non-binary potential is at the heart of the society.

Every week we’ll be posting an interview with a student leader, our Woman of the Week and an event write up! We’ll be posting article commissions and would love to publish your work. These articles will be diverse in nature and include psychology-based studies of marginalised genders, celebrations of fictional female heroines who inspire us, and even an analysis of female leadership in classics! If you’d like to get involved with writing - please get in touch.

Collaboration is at the core of the society - the events will be interactive and dynamic and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and connect with our wide range of speakers. Similarly, we encourage members to connect with one another and develop their networks, speak about their interests and make friends. Everyday on our Instagram we’ll be posting about a member to give each of you an opportunity to tell us about your inspirations and interests!

Female and non-binary students, please fill out this form to become an immediate member: - this will grant you access to our events and connect with speakers!

I can’t wait to see you join our already growing Cambridge Women Who Lead community!
